Work in the travel and tourism industry is essentially concerned with providing services for people who are away from home, on business or holiday. Work at every functional level in the industry involves dealing directly with people. Travel agent assesses the needs of tourists and businessmen and helps them make the best possible travel arrangements from the many travel options available. Thus, travel company personnel must be up-to-date on current rules and regulations and documentation required, in areas like cargo, ticketing and passports, visas etc. so as to correctly advise their clients and to take care of the paperwork when necessary.
Skill set for people wanting to join this industry are what any other industry would need – dedication, hard work and willingness to work for long hours. By means of education, people need to be graduates and a diploma or PG in travel and tourism helps, but is not a restrictive factor today.

Tourism industry, like every other one in India, is expanding at an enormous rate. Jobs in the travel and tourism industry offer good remuneration and perks, which include free travel for employees and their families. For a fresh certificate holder, the remunerations ranges from Rs.8,000 to Rs.12,000 monthly. Further on, it gets determined purely on the basis of functionality, the person’s abilities and the labor demand supply forces. The salary ranges on basis of year of work experience in the industry is as follows: ( Per annum)

2-3 YEARS: RS.2.5 TO RS.3.0 LACS;
4-6 YEARS: RS.5.0 TO 7.0 LACS;
