INDUSTRY ANALYSIS

Hotel accommodation in India is proving to be desperately inadequate to cater to the increased demand due to an increased tourist influx as well as a higher rate
of business travel with the general upturn in the economy.

The phenomenal growth of travelers mean that there is a requirement of approximately 100,000 new hotel rooms in the country but only 75% of the which will be met by the projects that are currently underway pronounces the report. The study further says that the present availability of 100,000 hotel rooms across all categories in the country is abysmally low compared to other countries of the world – China has ten times more and the United States has forty times more hotel rooms. The gap indicates that the hotel sector has not been able to keep pace with the economic growth leading to a gap in the demand and supply of quality
hotel rooms.
